Description

My entry for the Blizzard Halloween Fan Art contest. The Hallway was done in 3D Max for another project. That really helped for the counter view perpective. I retouched it in Photoshop. The characters are all original from sketch with no photo reference, then painted in photoshop. I wanted it to be dynamic and a bit chaotic to reflect the gameplay of Diablo. I think I should have put even more character in it (ran out of time).
I'm not quite sure about the colors. I look at some less saturated pictures and I really like them. But somehow I always end up using too much color for my own taste. Yet I liked it of course. But I'm very confused about my colors used. Give me your critiques.

I look forward to your comments and don't forget to vote if you like it.

You're so skilled graphician I think! Technique and details are on really hight level here!
But I must say I don't like composition of this picture.. it's a bit messed I think, too many elements on small place..
but it's really good painting!

btw. sory. I could write a critique when I saw this picture on WIP :/

You certainly got that chaotic feeling across anyway! :)
This is really kool. The characters are great, especially the main skeleton. I have to agree with you about the colours though. There is something about them. I think the fireballs might be too highly saturated compared to the rest of the image. I think the skeleton could do with a little desaturation too.
Besides that though I think this is great! I like the hand the right hand side implying there is someone shielding themselves from the attacking skeleton.

Great piece! Well done!

Dont' like the skeleton...
His face is in a way odd.
His face and the imps looking 2D in a way.. Doesn't fit to the paladin.
Composition is serious :)
Anyway +4.

I salute you Haevion for your remark. I don't quite get everything he said. But I can see a bit for the lower Imp. I think, I should not hace turn his head completely sideways. That will flatten the look anytime. I'm still not sure about my composition, the way I see it I have a strong subject in the central portion (which might be too strong), then I have all the secondary action & creatures making a circular composition around it. Thanks for the good words from Vgar & Yon.

I think the knight should have been more the central character than the skeleton, not too sure about the imps, they look slightly deformed (not sure if that was the intention). The action is good, nice sense of movement here, you can see you spent some time on it. The anatomy on the main skeleton doesnt look right, the hips are too wide which in turn has made the legs look too wide apart. +4

Not quite sure where the focus is, the eye keeps mov ing around, perhaps too many elements in it. But nice concept and I like the colours.

Your sense of light and texture are very good and getting better all the time. Your Paladin is the most dynamic based on his pose though and that is what makes him the most interesting. The others are just akwardly posed and as such makes them look "flat" as has been mentioned. You should work more to get more flowing dynamic poses.. think in arcs through the body when dealing with action as you have here. Also as mentioned the room does seem a bit crouded.. I know you said you are going for Chaotic but I think that the upper most Imp distracts a little perhaps just one imp would have been sufficient. Anyway.. all things to think about in your next painting. :) good job. :)

Interesting to read about your process for this image. I like how so many elements fit quite well together for a cohesive composition, there's a lot going on here to look at, and the colours are great. Keep up the great work!
